Calcei – Genuine Leather Roman Shoes

Calcei were mid-weight, outdoor walking “shoe-boots”, worn in ancient Rome. They were flat-soled and entirely covered the foot and ankle, up to the lower shin. They were secured with crossed leather laces.

Lighter than the openwork caligae favored by the Roman military, calcei were considered a distinctive part of Rome’s public, civilian “national dress”, which centered on the toga as an exclusive mark of Roman citizenship.

A: please place your foot on a sheet of paper and circle it with a pen;
B: please mark the length of your foot there;
C: please measure the circumference where the top of the shoe will be;
D: please measure the circumference as depicted 12 cm from the floor;
E: please measure the circumference as depicted
G: please measure the circumference as depicted in the widest part of your foot;
F: please measure the circumference as depicted halfway between measurements E and G
