Lares are household Gods revered in ancient Roman religion. They are guardian spirits who protect the home, family, and even the crossroads. The Lares are part of daily domestic rituals, and their worship is an integral aspect of Roman life.

In these statues, the Lares often held attributes or symbols of their protective role, such as a cornucopia symbolizing abundance, a rhyton (drinking horn) representing hospitality, or a patera (ritual dish) used in offerings. Some Lares statues also featured the figures standing on a base or pedestal.

These statues are to be placed in a special shrine or niche within the Roman household, known as the lararium, where offerings and prayers are made to ensure the family’s well-being and prosperity. The worship of the Lares is deeply rooted in Roman tradition, emphasizing the importance of the family unit and domestic harmony in Roman society.

Two models of Lares statue are now available. Model 1 Lar has rhyton and patera in his hands, Model 2 comes with Cornucopia. The figurine is a cast of brass and can be silver-plated and patinated on your order. Height options: 2,75 inches/70 mm, 4 inches/100 mm, 4.8 inches/120 mm.

Wooden Base is an available option and would cost an extra $10.

We do this because all products by ARX are being consecrated with authentic religious ceremony before shipment. The ceremony begins with auspicium – a ritual of requesting Iuppiter’s permission for the rites following. This permission may be and may not be granted right away. Sometimes it takes several days to receive it. So sometimes (very rarely) shipment may be delayed a little longer.
